It’s simply another term for a sash window that operates using the traditional cord-and-weight mechanism. This classic system, renowned for its smooth operation and durability, ensures the window maintains the timeless aesthetic of a traditional sash while delivering reliable functionality.
The term ‘box’ refers to the housing that encloses the weights, keeping the mechanism discreetly out of sight to preserve the elegant appearance associated with this window style.
Timber Box Sash Windows

This helps to preserve the historical roots of the property while also offering options for modernisation – including the option to have double-glazed or triple-glazed panels. Frames come in a choice of hardwood or softwood timber, and the windows themselves benefit from A-rated argon gas-filled glazing and neoprene seals to all joints.
All wooden windows are supplied factory-sprayed with micro-porous paint. As a result, we are able to offer a 10-year guarantee on the paint finish this creates.

Heritage Designs and Conservation
We understand the importance of replacement period windows mirroring the original design feature, and our team will work carefully to ensure bespoke designs are perfect replications.
All Heritage and conservation windows will be supplied and fitted in a manner which meets the standards of your local authority, as well as your own specifications beyond this.
