PVCu Sash Windows

Our PVCu sash windows recreate the proportions and detailing of traditional sliding sash windows, without the upkeep associated with timber. Made for homes where appearance matters, they offer reliable thermal performance and security, with a choice of Classic, Traditional, and Heritage styles to suit the property.

Traditional Detailing, Modern PVCu

Our PVCu sash windows are designed around the details that give traditional sash windows their distinctive appearance.

Depending on the range, these include run-through horns, glazing bars, sculpted profiles, mechanical joints, and slim, carefully proportioned midrails.

Behind this traditional appearance is a modern PVCu system with double glazing, secure locking, and smooth vertical operation. The sashes tilt inwards for easier cleaning, while the low-maintenance construction makes them a considered choice for renovations and new-build projects.

Why Choose PVCu Sash Windows?

01. Traditional appearance

Carefully proportioned profiles, glazing bars, and sash horn details give the windows the familiar appearance of traditional sliding sashes.

02. Low-maintenance PVCu

PVCu requires minimal ongoing upkeep, making it a straightforward alternative to timber where regular repainting is a concern.

03. Thermal performance

Multi-chambered frames and insulated double glazing help reduce heat loss and improve comfort inside the home.

04. Easy to clean

Both sashes tilt inwards, allowing the external glass to be cleaned safely from inside the property – particularly useful for upper-floor windows.

05. Security

Secure locking comes as part of the modern window system, with PAS 24 security upgrades available.

06. Made for your property

Choose from different sash configurations, glazing layouts, finishes, and window furniture to create a design that sits naturally within your property.

Traditional styling for a wide range of homes

Our Classic PVCu sash windows offer a straightforward way to retain the look of a sliding sash window with the benefits of modern PVCu. Run-through sash horns, glazing bars, and sculpted ovolo profiles provide familiar traditional detailing, while the 50.6mm midrail and 45° mitred welds give this range its distinct construction.

A multi-chambered profile and 24mm insulated double-glazed unit come as standard. Both sashes slide vertically and tilt inwards for easier cleaning.

Smooth White is the standard finish, with White Woodgrain available for a more traditional look.

Closer to the proportions and detailing of traditional timber sash windows

Our Traditional range takes its cues more closely from period timber joinery. A slimmer 37mm heritage midrail creates more refined proportions, while fully mechanical joints and run-through sash horns give the frame a more authentic structure than conventional welded PVCu construction.

White Woodgrain comes as standard, supported by sculpted profiles and mouldings that suit the architecture of Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian properties.

The sashes retain the convenient tilt-in operation of our PVCu range, making cleaning from inside the property straightforward.

Our most considered PVCu option for traditional joinery character

Our Heritage range is intended for properties where the finer details of traditional sash windows carry particular weight. A slim 35mm midrail, deep bottom rail, and end-sealed true mechanical joints create carefully balanced proportions, complemented by chamfered putty lines, astragal bars, and a sculpted internal ovolo profile.

Woodgrain foils reinforce the traditional finish, while Edinburgh, Windsor, and Victorian horn profiles allow the detailing to be matched more closely to the property. Tilting sashes provide easier access for cleaning.

The Heritage range is particularly suited to period homes, conservation areas, and sympathetic renovations.

Thermal Performance, Glazing & Security

Our Classic and Traditional PVCu sash windows use 24mm insulated double glazing as standard, with a Low-E inner pane, argon-filled cavity, and warm-edge spacer. They achieve an A energy rating and a standard U-value of 1.4 W/m²K, with an upgrade to 1.2 W/m²K available.

The Heritage range uses 24mm insulated double glazing as standard, with a U-value of 1.5 W/m²K. This can be improved to 1.4 W/m²K, or 1.2 W/m²K with the ThermoVFlex upgrade. Acoustic glazing can increase noise reduction from 32dB to 37dB.

Laminated, acoustic, and obscure glazing options are available across the range. PAS 24 security upgrades can also be specified, with Part Q-compliant options available for Heritage windows.

PVCu Sash Window Furniture

Window furniture can be selected to suit both the sash design and the wider interior.

Depending on the range, options include traditional Fitch, Acorn, and Globe locks, alongside restrictors, tilt controls, lift hooks, and ring pulls. Finishes range from polished and brushed chrome to pewter, gold, bronze, graphite, and antique black, giving the finer details a considered finish.

Finishing Details

The right finish helps your new sash windows sit naturally within the property.

Our Classic and Traditional ranges are available in a selection of colours and woodgrain foils, including understated whites and greys as well as traditional greens and timber-effect finishes. Colour-bonded RAL finishes can also be specified.

Heritage windows have their own palette of woodgrain foils and heritage-inspired colours, with dual-colour options available where a different finish is preferred inside and out.

Made to Suit Your Property

Sash proportions and glazing layouts can be tweaked to reflect the architecture of your home.

Options range from simple, uninterrupted glazing to traditional bar arrangements, arched heads, and bay window configurations.

This flexibility allows the design to follow the original window style or wider architectural details found across Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian properties.

PVCu Sash Window FAQs

What is the difference between Classic, Traditional, and Heritage PVCu sash windows?

  • Classic offers familiar sash styling for a broad range of homes.
  • Traditional moves closer to period timber joinery with fully mechanical joints and a slimmer 37mm midrail.
  • Heritage has the slimmest 35mm midrail and more detailed traditional features for heritage-sensitive projects.

Do PVCu sash windows look like timber sash windows?

They are designed to recreate many of the proportions and details associated with timber sashes. Depending on the range, this can include run-through horns, mechanical joints, slim midrails, glazing bars, and woodgrain finishes.

Are PVCu sash windows suitable for period properties?

Yes. Our Traditional and Heritage ranges are particularly suited to Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian properties where retaining the original architectural style is a priority.

Can PVCu sash windows be used in conservation areas?

They may be suitable, but requirements vary between properties and local authorities.

Our Heritage range has been developed with sympathetic renovations and conservation areas in mind. We do still recommend checking the requirements for your property before making a final specification.

How energy efficient are PVCu sash windows?

Classic and Traditional windows have a standard U-value of 1.4 W/m²K, with a 1.2 W/m²K upgrade available.

Heritage windows start at 1.5 W/m²K, with upgrade options down to 1.2 W/m²K.

Can PVCu sash windows help reduce outside noise?

Yes. Double glazing helps reduce external noise, and acoustic glazing can be specified where greater sound reduction is required. Heritage windows offer noise reduction of up to 37dB with acoustic glazing.

Do PVCu sash windows tilt in for cleaning?

Yes. The sashes can tilt inwards so the external glass can be cleaned from inside, which is particularly useful for upper-floor windows.

What colours and finishes are available?

Options vary by range and include smooth colours, woodgrain foils, traditional shades, and timber-effect finishes.

Dual-colour and colour-bonded RAL options are also available.
