Featured Ranges in Our Mayfair Installation

The project specification included 160 Traditional Sliding Sash Windows, using concealed spiral balances and FSC 100% finger-jointed Redwood. Finished in RAL 9016 Traffic White, the windows feature 16mm Lambs Tongue-style glazing bars, decorative horns to the top sash, and polished chrome furniture.

Acoustic laminated double glazing was specified throughout, with the sash windows achieving a quoted overall rating of 41 dB Rw and a U-value of 1.2 W/m²K. Angel locks restrict opening to 50mm, adding a practical detail to a specification developed for a large Mayfair property.

Six Traditional Timber Casement Windows completed the window specification at 44 Grosvenor Square. Made from FSC 100% finger-jointed Redwood and finished in RAL 9016 Traffic White, they use the same 16mm Lambs Tongue-style glazing-bar treatment to maintain consistency with the sash windows.

Acoustic laminated double glazing was also specified for the casements, with the quotation recording an overall U-value of 1.3 W/m²K and acoustic rating of 41 dB Rw.

Timber Sash Windows for Luxury Mayfair Hotels

As part of the refurbishment at 44 Grosvenor Square, we specified 166 timber windows: 160 Traditional Sliding Sash Windows and six Traditional Casement Windows. The specification combined traditional window detailing with acoustic laminated double glazing, while RAL 9016 Traffic White finishes and consistent glazing-bar patterns created continuity across the different window types.

Project Details & Challenges

Scale was a defining feature of the window package at 44 Grosvenor Square. The quotation covered 160 sliding sash windows across several sizes, together with six large casement windows. Rather than relying on a generic specification, the different window configurations were detailed individually while maintaining a consistent overall appearance.

The sash windows use spiral balances, 16mm Lambs Tongue-style glazing bars with back-to-back spacers, decorative horns, polished chrome furniture, and RAL 9016 Traffic White paintwork. Acoustic laminated double glazing was specified throughout, with toughened internal panes used where required.

The six casement windows followed the same approach to timber, finish, glazing bars, and acoustic glazing, allowing the different window types to sit together as part of one coordinated scheme.

About the Millennium Mayfair Hotel Refurbishment

The Biltmore Mayfair underwent an ambitious £60 million renovation, transforming the former Millennium Hotel on Grosvenor Square into a luxury five-star destination. The project involved extensive updates to the property, including redesigned interiors, new dining options, and upgraded amenities, rebranding it under Hilton’s LXR Hotels & Resorts.

The refurbishment celebrated the building’s Georgian heritage while bringing it into the modern era of hospitality – and we are proud to have been a part of this refurbishment, providing our expertise in sash window replacements for high-profile heritage projects.

A Consistent Specification Across 166 Windows

A project of this scale required consistency across several window sizes and two different opening styles. The specification carried the same core details through the sash and casement windows, including FSC 100% Redwood, RAL 9016 Traffic White paintwork, 16mm Lambs Tongue-style glazing bars, polished chrome furniture, and acoustic laminated double glazing.

The result was a coordinated timber window package developed around both the appearance of the property and clearly defined acoustic and thermal requirements.
