Our Work with Box Sash Windows
We assist customers across London with finding their ideal set of new or replacement windows. This means providing custom-made designs created to complement the features of any property, while never compromising on the elements homeowners value most. With our box sash windows, you will always be guaranteed a beautiful design that is also energy-efficient, cost-effective, highly secure, and easy to maintain.
If you require soft or hardwood timber windows to complete the restoration of a period property, our specialists will advise you. Alternatively, if you are interested in adding a timeless touch of elegance to a more modern home through uPVC designs, we can help you with this.
As registered members of FENSA, our windows all have a GGFI 10-year insurance-backed guarantee. We also hold an excellent rating on Checkatrade and are valued by our customers.
About Box Sash Windows
A box sash window isn’t much different than a traditional sash window, although the style is often recommended for larger windows. It still operates using the same system of weights and pulleys as a typical sliding sash window, but is generally considered more stately in nature because of its size.
The heavier, bulkier configuration is then hidden away behind internal vertical side shutters, or “boxes”, in order to maintain the aesthetically pleasing appearance of a traditional-style sash window.
Wooden Box Sash Windows
Many of our customers, especially those with older properties, prefer the look and feel of traditional wooden windows. This helps to preserve the historical roots of the property while also offering options for modernisation – including the option to have double-glazed or triple-glazed panels. Frames come in a choice of hardwood or softwood timber, and the windows themselves benefit from A-rated argon gas-filled glazing and neoprene seals to all joints to eliminate cold and draughts.
All wooden windows are supplied factory-sprayed with micro-porous paint. As a result, we are able to offer a 10-year guarantee on the paint finish this creates.
UPVC Box Sash Windows
A modern alternative to timber windows is using a uPVC frame instead. This offers homeowners an equally elegant and stylish feature for their property, while also installing something that will remain low-maintenance and long-lasting. UPVC is also generally considered a more affordable material than timber. The compact nature of the windows themselves will also mean a significantly improved level of energy efficiency and soundproofing.
To complete the look of an older window design, even when uPVC is the focus material, we will fit box sash windows with classical detailing, such as:
- Decorative horns
- Deep bottom rails
- Georgian glazing bars
- Slim sashes
Heritage Designs and Conservation
We understand the importance of replacement period windows mirroring the original design feature, and our team will work carefully to ensure bespoke designs are perfect replications.
All Heritage and conservation windows will be supplied and fitted in a manner which meets the standards of your local authority, as well as your own specifications beyond this. For homeowners who wish to use uPVC in their window designs, this even means using one of the few uPVC products that have been approved and successfully installed in conservation areas.
To learn more about what constitutes a conservation window, please see the information page provided.
All types of sash windows are designed to let in large amounts of natural light, but they can also be improved upon to retain heat, offer greater levels of sound insulation, and to provide greater levels of security than before. This is easily achieved by ensuring your chosen windows are fitted with double-glazed units or triple-glazed units.
All box sash windows can be fitted with double-glazed or triple-glazed panels when you order from us. All you will need to do is let us know if this is what you would like when you contact us to discuss your ideal set of windows.
